Agency History
The Hess Agency has served the insurance needs of friends, neighbors and local businesses since its founding in 1952. Robert O. Hess, well known to area residents as a minister, storekeeper, tax preparer, notary and respected business leader, was granted an insurance license by the Old Guard Mutual Insurance Company.
Prior to that time, Robert and his father, Harry Hess, served on the boards of local mutual insurance companies and often helped local farmers obtain proper fire insurance coverage. This heritage of professionalism and community service continues today under the leadership of Steven L. Faus, agency president and grandson of Robert Hess. Since that time, the insurance professionals at The Hess Agency have helped protect many of the homes, farms, businesses, properties and lives of the good people of south central Pennsylvania. In fact, The Hess Agency proudly provides coverage for customers all over Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region. From less than $400,000 in written premiums in 1985, to over $20 million today, The Hess Agency is successfully following a path of careful growth and stability. In 1999, the agency moved its offices from the family's 200-year old grocery store ... the firm's home since its founding in 1952 ... to a restored 150-year-old barn at 2990 Mount Joy Road at the crossroads of Route 283 and the Manheim-Mt. Joy Road. Stop by for a visit, or call us for a quote. We'd like to make you part of the Hess family! |
